A photographic weekend in the Urbasa y Andía Natural Park, where anyone who wants to discover a new destination and perfect their photographic technique is welcome. The two mountains that give the park its name, despite being contiguous, have very different characteristics, it is a land of contrasts. Therefore, we will have a wide variety of different environments and scenarios.
We will apply techniques to achieve the desired photography in each landscape. We will play with the camera parameters, the different compositions and angles, as well as the use of filters and panoramas.
The photographer who will accompany you to the workshop has a lot of experience in landscape photography and will give personalized attention to each participant.
The Natural Park of Urbasa and Andía is a protected area, declared a natural park of the Foral Community of Navarra. It has an area of about 27,000 hectares, distributed in different areas.
The Sierra de Andia is a very rocky area and the different stone formations that have been sculpted over the years are very characteristic. San Donato is the highest massif in the park, due to the effect of erosion, it has formed a relief with a multitude of different surfaces. Nearby we find one of the highest waterfalls in Navarra, that of Arteta, and it is also an area full of waterfalls.
Sierra de Urbasa, unlike the Sierra de Andía, is a more humid area, with large forest masses. Aquifers abound, the most notable being the Urederra source, where the river that gives it its name is born. It has numerous waterfalls that fall into pools of crystal clear turquoise water. In the northern area we find the Enchanted Forest, legend has it that there was a time when giants inhabited it… It is a beech forest, the curious shapes of its tops and trunks together with the mist, create a magical atmosphere wherever they exist. Along the way, we will make a stop at a viewpoint, with a panoramic view of a winding road pass between the tops of beech trees.
Spring is the resurgence of life, the tops of the trees are covered with new green leaves. The melting increases the flow of the rivers, the waterfalls and waterfalls are at their maximum splendor. The pools of the springs are filled, and there is a high probability of having the fog in the beech forests. There is a special light, sunrises and sunsets will open and close the day.
Every day we will get up early to reach the locations before dawn, and then we will move through different points of the park. We will discover corners in which to put into practice the handling of the camera and we will apply the appropriate techniques at all times.
We will play with different compositions and angles of view, we will delve into the different parameters of the camera to capture each place in the most appropriate way. It is a proactive workshop and any doubt or concern will be resolved.
In the different locations there will be the time that the group needs to make a good catch. We understand and respect the times of each one and in no case will anyone be left behind due to lack of practice or experience.
This program is an approximation of the day to day, however, for reasons beyond the organization it could suffer variations. In this case, an alternative activity will be carried out.
10:00 Arrival at the meeting point, previously agreed. Presentation and explanation of the workshop to the participants. Next we will start in a location with a bridge with different waterfalls. We will follow the path and we will go up to the Arteta Waterfall, which is one of the largest in Navarra, it is also an area full of many other waterfalls.
In the afternoon we will go to the top of Lizarraga, it has views of the valley and Mount Beriain, an ideal location for panoramic views. Finally we will see the sunset in an area with a natural stone arch with a large cave in the lower part.
We’ll get up early and head to the Balcón de Pilatos to wait for sunrise, where you can take panoramic views.
Then we will go to the Nacedero del Urederra Natural Reserve, a place where we will find pools of crystal clear turquoise water, and where we will spend a large part of the day.
Next we will visit an enchanted forest, a beech forest, full of trees with very characteristic shapes and covered with new green leaves.
Today we will portray the sunset at a viewpoint with views of the Sakana Valley and the Olazagutia port, the curves it draws on the treetops remind us of a snake.
Last morning of the weekend, today we head to the area surrounding Mount Beriain to photograph the sunrise. Next we will go to the Sierra de Andía, full of different rock formations with many photographic possibilities.
We will close the itinerary in a new location in Puerto de Lizarraga.
