Travel to one of the least known places in Europe, where the inhabitants share the territory with bears and wolves, just as they did centuries ago.A group trip to search for fauna and to discover the landscapes of the Polish Carpathians.
Welcome to the unknown Carpathians, specifically to a small mountainous region between Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. Here, rural life is completely integrated in a peculiar harmony with the wild fauna. You are going to feel as you´ve been teletransported to the past.
Wolves that use the human fence to hunt deer, bears that cross the streets of the smallest towns at night or beavers that fight over the wood with their human neighbors and decide to set up their beaver refuge 30 meters from an inhabited cabin by a family of farmers.
This territory is surrounded by valleys, immense forests and rivers and still hides unexplored corners that photographically take your breath away.
A trip of search, observation and photography of wild fauna. Our wildlife specialist has previously been in the territory locating the animals. With him you will be able to learn, improve and put into practice the strategy and previous preparation, animal location and choose the best place for the waiting points. The goal is to be able to observe and photograph wild fauna.
The animals change territories and move in search of food, we will analyze the signs that we are finding and we will wait at different points, always hidden and camouflaged to remain undetected. Our scenarios will be meadows, rivers and forests. However, it is important pay attention all time, animals cross the same road we use. A truly wild territory.
The trip begins at Krakow airport where the specialist will be waiting for you. Already in the car we will go to the area where the adventure will take place, in the Carpathian region. The trip, depending on the state of the road, can last between 3 to 5 hours.
In the accommodation, we will distribute the rooms and we will settle. The guide will explain what the following days will be like, and will share the information that he has obtained the days prior to your arrival, in this way we can establish a more concrete schedule and strategy. We start the dynamics of the trip.
Every morning we will get up early and meet at a certain time to go out, which we will specify the night before. The schedules and locations will be decided based on the movements and tracks that we find. For each strategy that we trace, we will use one tool or another, the use of camouflage, mobile hideouts or previously installed waiting points.
After each observation, we will return home to rest, eat and plan next observation. A night we will return to the accommodation.
During the week, the participants will learn to track and know the movements of the animals, so on the last days, the one who wants will practice all the new skills acquired. We will separate the group and each one will choose one of the steps or points that we have used during the week. You will go alone and experience 100% what a true wildlife photographer lives. It is up to you to control the wind, be silent and avoid detection, you may find the best experience of the trip. You dare?
At this time, the bear and the wolf will be our main protagonists, also the bison, and if we manage to be early at the observation points we can see deer, roe deer, foxes and a large number of birds. Depending on the weather, we will have the opportunity to see many more elusive bird species such as the Ural owl and sometimes we have even been able to photograph mustelids.
We have different accommodations, they can be typical Polish wooden cabins, or rural houses. In any case, they all have rooms with comfortable beds, kitchen, hot shower, TV and everything you need to feel comfortable after each day. It also has heating and a leisure area. There is WIFI and mobile coverage (moderate), Poland is included in the free roaming plan of the EU.
The meals will be made in the accommodation and in restaurants in the area to taste the local cuisine. Near the accommodation there is a supermarket with everything you may need for personal use, food, drinks and hygienical material… We usually pass by each time we go from home to the locations, we can stop as many times as necessary.
