A trip for those who want to live a weekend bear adventure in the Pyrenees.
To see the Pyrenean bear, we are going to have to make the typical observation waits, you know, what we naturalists do when we want to see a wild animal in its natural habitat.
We also go through some of the forests and trails used by bears, to look for the traces they leave behind. Always with our specialist in fauna, with an enormous trajectory in this animals.
And there is no better place to live this experience than the Valle de Arán and Pallars Sobirá, two regions with the wildest landscapes of the Catalan Pyrenees.
The bear safari in the Pyrenees is an adaptation from our other trip “Expedition”. We will make observations in different areas, they are comfortable outings, through easily accessible places and that do not require a high physical level, they are also designed for those who only have the weekend available. It is about living, in a certain way, the days of the expedition, we will sleep in a camp pretending to be in the mountains.
The main objectives are to introduce the existence of this animal and the environment it inhabits, as well as to live first-hand the experience of moving through its territory, looking for traces and setting up a wait, in short, putting yourself in the shoes of a tracker or photographer. of wildlife. And if we have luck on our side, observe the great pyrenean brown bear.
The bears of the Pyrenees are wild and elusive animals, they also move through wide territories. Understanding them and interpreting the movements they will make to try to see them requires many years of experience, which is why we have a specialized tracker who will accompany and explain many curiosities about bears to the group.
The program is an estimate, it can suffer variations depending on the needs of the group, the locations may change depending on the weather, etc… in any case, the group will be informed previously and we will offer some alternatives.
The adventure begins, from 4:00 p.m. we will be waiting for you at the place where we will spend the first night of camping. A day of meeting with the group, explaining how the activity is going to be carried out and first contact with the camping material.
We also take the opportunity to share the latest news we have about the location of these plantigrades. And if there is time we can make a first wait.
Then we will all have dinner together, a good time to get to know each other. Finally, early to sleep, the adventure begins in the Pyrenees!
We will get up early to go to the location that the guide has chosen for the first observation wait. At noon, we will return from the mountain and we will give the group free time for eat, rest…
In the afternoon we will meet again, and with the information that the guide has collected we will follow a new plan, being able to return to the same location or change the area. Everything will depend on the traces that we have found. Sunset observation.
Finally, with the sunset, we will return to the accommodation, we will have dinner together to discuss how the day has gone, and we will establish a strategy for the next observation. And soon to sleep.
We get up early again to head to the waiting point, it is our last observation, we will practice everything we learned the day before. We will return to the accommodation to pick up, as the group wishes we can eat toghether. Finally it´s time to say goodbye. Let’s hope you return home with a nice memory and see you soon!
The outing focuses mainly on the Brown Bear, but the entire area in which we will move is full of many other wild animals, with which we may possibly come across, some more difficult to see than others. Pyrenean fauna includes the deer, roe deer, fox, chamois and marmot. As for the birds, we can highlight the Griffon Vulture, the Bearded Vulture and the Golden Eagle. They are also very abundant a large number of small birds, mammals, reptiles and a wide variety of flora.
It was certainly essential that the accommodation we were looking for meet a series of requirements, firstly, to simulate as much as possible the feeling of being in the mountains, and secondly, to offer different options for each group. We believe we have found an option that adapts 100% to the needs of our adventurers.
The two nights we will be camping and we will learn to assemble and disassemble the tent. We will have all the comforts, showers, bathrooms, leisure area… It´s possible to hire a cabin or bungalow, depending on the availability and if you prefer to sleep in another accommodation, do not hesitate to tell us!
Picnic breakfasts are included during the waits on Saturday and Sunday, and the welcome dinner on Friday.
